Nearly 15 law students are seated in office chairs in front of, and around, conference room tables. All of the students face forward, apparently listening to a speaker present. The students are predominantly women, with just three men visible in this group photo.

IRAP Chapter Leaders Attend Annual Summit in New York City

Last weekend, IRAP held its annual Student Summit at the offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City. Chapter leaders from IRAP’s law school chapters from across the United States and Canada were in attendance for the two-day summit, where they participated in trainings by IRAP staff and brainstormed projects together in workshop settings. They also heard from journalist and MacArthur Fellow, Sarah Stillman, who has written extensively on refugee issues and gave the keynote address, as well as from a former IRAP client, an Iraqi refugee. Students also attended a happy hour sponsored by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where they had the opportunity to network and engage on refugee issues. A number of chapters were also honored with ‘IRAPtor’ awards for their exceptional work throughout the year.
