Months After Court Vacated Trump-Era Restrictions, Biden Administration Has Yet to Restore Access to Work Permits for Asylum Seekers
Last Friday, asylum seekers and advocates in the case CASA de Maryland v. Mayorkas asked a Maryland federal court to order the government to stop implementing Trump-era rules that severely limit asylum seekers’ ability to work while they wait for their asylum cases to be adjudicated.

Asylum Seekers and Advocates Discuss Fight for Work Permits Following Oral Arguments in CASA v. Mayorkas Case
On a press call today, asylum seekers and advocates discussed the importance of work permits for asylum seekers and where efforts stand in the fight to protect the ability of asylum seekers to work legally. The call featured remarks from the Asylum Seekers Advocacy Project (ASAP), the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), and an affected ASAP member.

Kiakombua v. Wolf: Protecting the credible fear process for seeking asylum
