IRAP in the Advocate: U.S. Must Expedite Urgent LGBT Cases

A recent article by Andrew Harmon in The Advocate described the plight facing LGBT and “emo” Iraqis, currently being hunted down and persecuted at alarming rates throughout Iraq. In the article, IRAP’s director Becca Heller calls on the U.S. to create a more effective way to expedite emergency cases who cannot wait for the one to two year process of resettlement to the United States.

Since March of 2012, IRAP has been actively working in Iraq and surrounding countries to provide emergency protection and evacuation to LGBT Iraqis in emergency situations.
