When the Trump Administration made aggressive efforts to deport Iraqi nationals from the United States beginning in the spring of 2017, IRAP worked with other advocates to support the filing of Hamama v. Adducci, 2:17-cv-11910 (E.D. Mich.). This case, filed as a class action, resulted in stopping the deportation of hundreds of Iraqis and allowing them to be free from immigration detention.
For the most up-to-date information on the lawsuit, please visit the website of the lead counsel in the case, ACLU of Michigan.
For immigration counsel representing Iraqi nationals with final orders of removal, the Hamama counsel team and other advocates prepared information, including expert declarations and brief bank, that are accessible here.
