IRC & Norwegian Refugee Council Report: Syrian Civilians Unable to Find Safety Abroad

A new report released by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Norwegian Refugee Council finds that Syrian civilians fleeing their homes are increasingly unable to find safety abroad. Of the 9.6 million people who have fled the conflict in Syria, more than 3 million are currently being hosted by Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq. But the capacity of these neighboring countries is dwindling. As a result, Syrian civilians trying to escape the conflict now risk being turned back at borders.

In order to protect Syrian civilians, the international community must step up to support countries in the region and take in its fair share of refugees.
