“Metro New York” Highlights IRAP’s Work in New York Area

A Metro New York article highlights IRAP’s work in bringing Iraqi refugees to the New York area.

The piece features Alaa Majeed, a resettled Iraqi refugee currently living in Brooklyn.

As someone who worked for the U.S. government in Iraq, Majeed was subject to constant threats and almost kidnapped, according to the article.

Although she came to New York in 2007 (after first fleeing to Jordan), Majeed said she is still adjusting to life in Brooklyn.

“I’m just here in shock,” she said. “In a crowd, when I hear a shot it just takes me to exactly where I was and I think there is a militia.”
