New wave of religious persecution in Iraq will not affect U.S. draw down

Iraqi Christians have been facing renewed persecution during the first weeks of November, while the Iraqi government struggles to form a workable coalition. One Iraqi archbishop living in the United Kingdom went so far as to call on all Christian believers in Iraq to flee the country.

In response to question about whether this newest wave of religious persecution would affect the U.S. troop pull-out, a spokesperson for the Pentagon stated that it will have “no effect.”
