Philly.com: Congress and Obama Must Hasten Arrival of Endangered Allies in Iraq

A poignant Thanksgiving Day column on Philly.com asks Americans to reflect on an important question: “At a time when U.S. military personnel are returning to Iraq, how can we expect people to risk their lives to help American troops in the future when we are treating them so shabbily in the present?” The opinion piece, published this morning, assesses the dire situation faced by thousands of Iraqis who risked their lives to support American forces. In-country refugee processing is currently suspended in Iraq, meaning that thousands of refugees are stranded with their visa application on hold. Congress and President Obama must act with conviction to get these individuals out of harm’s way before it is too late.
