This report analyzes quantitative and qualitative data on three New York City immigration courts collected by volunteer court observers between 2022 and 2023. The NYU Law IRAP Chapter compiled this report to advocate for immigration courts to adhere to their policies, protect fair process and rights of immigrants, and better allocate resources. This report covers issues including general court atmosphere, rates of representation, and in absentia removal rates, among others.
