Tell Your Senator: End Title 42 and Restore Asylum Access

This is a pivotal week in the fight to restore asylum access. Earlier this year, the Biden administration announced it would end the cruel Title 42 policy on May 23, but now, through lawsuits and legislation, anti-immigrant politicians from both parties are trying to keep Title 42 in place.

Title 42 was weaponized by the Trump administration – under the pretense of public health – to deny asylum seekers their enshrined legal right to request asylum. But the reality is that Title 42 doesn’t protect anyone’s health, and instead puts already at-risk people in dangerous, often life-threatening, situations.

Politicians fighting to keep Title 42 in place are doing the bidding of radical anti-immigrant activists who want to permanently cut off Black, brown, and Indigenous asylum seekers’ access to safety. We need to remind them that their actions are against public health guidance, against human rights, and against their constituents’ will. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment to stand up for people’s right to seek safety in the United States.

The Biden administration was right to terminate this harmful and discriminatory policy, but a new bill — introduced by Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and James Lankford (R-OK) — would put people seeking a fair chance at asylum in jeopardy. Speak out in support of asylum protections today!
