US Inspector General: Iraq More Dangerous Than Last Year

A new report from the U.S. Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction states that Iraq is less safe now than it was a year ago.

According to the report, there is an increased presence of Shi’a militias, contributing to more deaths of American soldiers and more rocket attacks targeted at foreign forces.

A particularly dangerous region is Diyala, which lies on the Iranian border in the northeast of Iraq.
