Washington Post: More Than 50 Million Displaced People in the World

The Washington Post published an article this morning that brought further attention to the current world refugee crisis. According to the UN, there are more than 50 million displaced persons in the world today, not counting those who have been affected by recent violence in Iraq. That figure is staggering. Not since World War II has there been a number that high, and it only promises to grow as violence in Iraq, Syria, Sudan, and other countries continues.

Today, on World Refugee Day, it is important to consider why and how so many refugee crises continue to occur, and what we can do to prevent them from taking place in the future. Together, we can make a huge difference.
