Ghita Schwarz

Ghita Schwarz is the Senior Director of U.S. Litigation at IRAP. In this role, Ghita leads IRAP’s  impact litigation in U.S. Courts to advance and defend the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and other people in need of humanitarian relocation.  

Prior to joining IRAP, Ghita was the Litigation Director at LatinoJustice PRLDEF,  where she oversaw litigation in immigrant rights, criminal law reform, voting rights, and economic justice. Ghita spent a decade at the Center for Constitutional Rights, litigating a range of civil and human rights cases in federal courts. Ghita began her career as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at Queens Legal Services, working with families to fight for their rights in the public school system, and as a Chadbourne & Parke Fellow at the Door Legal Services Center, representing young people in immigration and family court proceedings.

Ghita is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School. She speaks Spanish.  She is a member of the New York bar and is admitted to practice in U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third and Sixth Circuits and in the U.S. Supreme Court.
