Peter Varga

Peter Varga is the Legal Director at IRAP Europe. In this role, he oversees IRAP Europe’s legal team, including the France/UK, Germany, and Sweden country teams, as well as the international litigation practice, ensuring alignment with IRAP Europe’s litigation and advocacy goals. Prior to assuming this position, he was Supervising Attorney for the Swedish country team at IRAP Europe.

Prior to joining IRAP Europe, Peter held the position of Associate Legal Officer and Focal Point for Sweden at the UNHCR Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries. Before that, he worked as a lawyer at the Swedish Refugee Law Center, where he also served as representative to the European Council for Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) and Country Expert to the Asylum Information Database (AIDA). Peter has also worked for private law firms in Stockholm, Sweden.

Peter holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Stockholm University and has studied political science at the University of Lund, Sweden and Corvinus University in Budapest, Hungary. He has served on the board of the Swedish Section of the International Commission of Jurists. He speaks Swedish, English and Hungarian.
