Attorneys and Advocates Respond to Hearing in Lawsuit Challenging ICE Arrests of Refugees

Today, a federal judge heard oral arguments on a preliminary injunction request in U.H.A. v. Bondi, a class action lawsuit challenging the unlawful arrest and detention of Minnesota refugees under Operation PARRIS. Immediately following the hearing, local refugees, political leaders, advocates, and the attorneys arguing the case gathered in front of the courthouse for a press conference. Together, they discussed the lawsuit and implications for refugees and the families and communities supporting them.

Federal Court Rules Government Must Process Visa Applications of Afghan Allies

On Friday, a federal court issued a decision in the class action lawsuit Afghan & Iraqi Allies v, Rubio ordering the Trump administration to abide by a plan to adjudicate SIV applications in a timely manner. While President Trump’s expanded travel ban continues to prevent all Afghan nationals from entering the United States, the judge ruled the processing of COM applications must resume immediately for members of the class.

Court Orders ICE To Stop Unlawful Arrest and Detention of Refugees

Today, a federal judge issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) preventing the Trump administration from arresting and detaining lawfully resettled refugees in Minnesota under Operation PARRIS while the case challenging the practice proceeds. The judge also ordered the immediate release of all detained refugees in Minnesota and the release of those taken to Texas within five days.

Refugees Sue Trump Administration to Stop ICE Terror Campaign

Last night, a group of refugees represented by the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), Berger Montague, and the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CHRCL) filed a federal class action lawsuit challenging the illegal arrest and imprisonment of resettled refugees in Minnesota. The Advocates for Human Rights, a non-profit providing on-the-ground legal representation to impacted refugees in Minnesota, is an organizational plaintiff.
