IRAP ANNOUNCES NEW INITIATIVE TO ADVANCE MIGRATION SOLUTIONS FOR THE FUTURE
The Immigration Solutions Accelerator will design and champion actionable solutions for durable protections for displaced people in the United States and Europe
(New York, NY) – Today, the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) launched the Immigration Solutions Accelerator, a policy and advocacy shop dedicated to advancing lawful pathways rooted in the rights of displaced people. The Accelerator leverages IRAP’s expertise gained from representing our clients to advance lawful pathways globally that are responsive to the migration needs of the future.
“In an era defined by increasing xenophobia, mass displacement, and climate disasters, the need for pragmatic, scalable immigration solutions rooted in human rights and dignity cannot be overstated,” said IRAP President Sharif Aly. “The Immigration Solutions Accelerator exists to provide those solutions by drawing upon the expertise of our staff, clients, and partners. With this launch, IRAP reaffirms our commitment to defending immigrant communities in the present while also laying the groundwork for a better future. Everyone should have a safe place to call home and a safe way to get there.”
The Accelerator launches with two reports centered around climate mobility and family reunification:
- Making Lawful Pathways Work for Climate Migration: Initial Insights for Policymakers
- Family Life on Hold: Germany’s Suspension of Family Reunification for Beneficiaries of Subsidiary Protection after One Year
In the coming months and years, the Accelerator will develop actionable and timely policy materials; pressure-test policy recommendations with legal experts, decision-makers, and impacted communities; and seize opportunities for uptake in the United States and Europe. The Accelerator will publish materials in partnership with immigrant rights experts and leaders and will uplift collective efforts to reimagine and solidify rights-based immigration policies and ideas.
