Last night, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced it will restart the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) Direct Access Program (DAP) for U.S.-Affiliated Iraqis (Iraqi P-2 Program). IRAP welcomes the announcement that DAP processing will resume, and we look forward to receiving more details to ensure the scale and speed of processing matches the need.

On a press call held earlier today, advocates and experts discussed the state of the U.S. refugee resettlement system one year into the Biden administration and called on the U.S. to fulfill its promise to protect Iraqi and Afghan allies.
On the one-year anniversary of suspension of the Iraqi P2 DAP program, the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) calls on the Biden administration to take concrete steps to restore the Iraqi P2 DAP so that the program can meet its noble intent to uphold our moral obligation to Iraqi allies, as originally authorized by Congress.
