Turning Expertise into Policy
The Immigration Solutions Accelerator leverages IRAP’s expertise from representing our clients to advance lawful pathways globally that are responsive to the migration needs of the future. We are creating a space to bring together refugee leaders, advocates, researchers, policymakers, and other partners to innovate solutions for some of the most pressing needs around migration. Our work with refugees and displaced people shows us firsthand where migration systems are failing. This initiative takes this work a step further by bringing the right people together to develop stronger, more durable solutions for the future.
The Accelerator aims to remove policy barriers to migration by:
- Unlocking actionable insights from IRAP’s direct legal services, coalitions, and litigation, to develop actionable, timely, incisive policy materials rooted in championing the rights of displaced people;
- Pressure-testing policy recommendations regularly with legal experts, activists, decision-makers, refugee leaders, and other stakeholders; and
- Crafting external advocacy opportunities to build public and decision-makers’ support.
We focus our solutions on three thematic areas:
- Designing pathways and protection frameworks for the future;
- Recommending improvements to existing or past pathways; and
- Analyzing past policies to shape future ones: both to safeguard against repeating harms in the future and to safeguard against the future dismantling of protective systems.
